What people get wrong about Turkey

The flag question offers Tunisia, Azerbaijan and Algeria beside Turkey. All four carry a crescent and star. Tunisia's sits in a white disc; Algeria's is on green and white; Azerbaijan's is on three stripes. Turkey's is a plain red field, crescent open to the fly. The outline is shown beside Iran, Iraq and Syria. Turkey is the wide rectangle with a horn at the western end; Iran is the tilted one with a coast on two seas.

The capital question comes three times, all Ankara. Then Istanbul comes twice, once in the capitals round via the Bosphorus and once in trivia, and each time the only thing asked is which country it is in. Trivia also asks for the currency, the lira, and in numbers we hold the population, 85 million, and the founding of the republic, 1923. Explorer marks Hagia Sophia, Miletus, Mount Nemrut and Mount Ararat easy. Cappadocia, Ephesus and Pamukkale are medium. Lake Eğirdir, Mount Hasan, Priene and Uludağ are hard, and Imbros, in the Aegean, is the one that gets pinned in Greece.
