European capitals people get wrong
Switzerland is the classic: the capital is Bern, not Zürich or Geneva. The Netherlands is Amsterdam by constitution, even though parliament and the government sit in The Hague. Turkey is Ankara, not Istanbul. Outside those three, the capital is nearly always the largest city in Europe, so when in doubt, name the biggest city.
The Baltic three go in alphabetical order from north to south: Estonia (Tallinn), Latvia (Riga), Lithuania (Vilnius). Slovenia's capital is Ljubljana and Slovakia's is Bratislava; the countries are 500 km apart and only the names are similar. Moldova's Chișinău and North Macedonia's Skopje are the two most-missed on this list. Kosovo's is Pristina; Montenegro's is Podgorica.
